So, as a way to keep costs down, I moonlight as a sewing machine tech, trying to keep my wife's machines out of the repair shop.
One of the major problems with the purely mechanical machines is when she hits a pin and knocks the timing out. This is a major problem as it really effects the quality of the stitches. This is a picture I took this morning showing how much the timing is off.

The eye of the needle should be up closer to that pointed piece which is the hook. Now to find that u-tube video that shows how to adjust that. The minimum charge at the local repair shop is now over $100. I can do a lot of searching for that amount.
