And you are right Thad !
This was shot at close range but one can also get superb results shooting further away.
Consider however, the Zeiss Batis 135 f/2.8 which is (I am sure) also an excellent piece of glass and not so heavy !

It is the one-point-eight that I find so attractive.

The focal length itself is covered by my Tamron 70-180/2.8. So is 85, but I wouldn't dream of leaving my 85/1.8 at home!

In the house we have the Sony 85 f/1.8 (not GM !) and used with the 6500 or the 7III it is superb also !

I have trying to shoot "sports". Just kidding !
I try to get some decent pictures of guys running, cycling, motorcycling... but have little success even with all the "supposed to be" correct settings.
I have been trying but not hard enough or better saying not often enough !
I get some shots but many failures. ?
This one is OK but some...
